HDRA Webinar – REM & RAM – Conflict and the Brain
Conflict and trauma affect the brain in ways that can make communication, problem-solving, and decision-making difficult. Join Clare Fowler as she explores what happens in the brain when people become overwhelmed by conflict and how mediators can respond more effectively. Participants will learn to recognize signs of trauma and harm in clients, apply practical strategies to support productive conversations, and identify the early warning signs of compassion fatigue to better care for themselves while caring for others.
Clare Fowler is Executive Vice President and Managing Editor of Mediate.com, as well as an experienced mediator, trainer, and author. She earned her Master of Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law and her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where her research focused on reducing workplace conflict. She is the author of Rising Above Office Conflict: The Light-Hearted Guide for the Heavy-Hearted Employee (2023).
