Community, Creativity, and Conflict: Visual Tools for Working with Groups and Organizations

Mediators are skilled at helping individuals find creative ways to resolve their differences. But what happens when the conflict involves an entire congregation, organization, or community? The complexity can quickly become overwhelming, making it difficult to see what is actually happening beneath the surface.

This webinar introduces visual tools that can help practitioners “see” the dynamics within complex group conflicts. By making relationships, patterns, perspectives, and sources of conflict more visible, these tools can help practitioners better understand what they are seeing and make more informed choices about where to begin.

The webinar will also invite participants to consider the values and assumptions they bring to their work with people in conflict. Robert will share how his Christian faith provides a foundation for his own approach to working with individuals and groups, while inviting practitioners to identify the values that serve as their own foundation for this work.

Robert Yutzy is a Senior Associate for Congregational Ministry at KIPCOR. He holds a master’s degree in Conflict Transformation and Organizational Health from the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University. Robert is an ordained pastor in the Mennonite Church USA and has served as a settled pastor in four congregations and as a transition pastor in eight congregations. He has also worked as a consultant and intervenor with congregations navigating change and conflict.
